The story of my art divides into four parts: 1) intentionality of the new materials, 2) form, 3) structure, and 4) meaning.
- It was a coincidence. I perceived aluminum containers that I used from the parties as useful sources. Instead of disposing them, I washed them and gathered them. Firstly, I explored the material using oil paint to paint on the surface of the aluminum containers. It was not intriguing. I tried deconstructing and reconstructing the aluminum containers into cubes and then attached them on a canvas. It was intriguing to see each dimensional cube showed the property of the aluminum by reflecting and radiating lights. According to the compositions, qualities of the material revealed its visual components that are diverse in size, textures, shapes, and space.
- Disposable materials were recycled and reused. Because people are adapted to the pattern of mass production and uses, they simplify the categories between products and rubbish. I intend to eradicate the line that distinguishes the value of products and rubbish.
- The acts of perceiving, meditating, intuitively staring, contemplating, and processing are different from the habitual and stereotypical perception of equalization. This habitual ways of looking leads me to have metaphorical intentions like meta and allegro.
- Each cube possesses its own size, and radiates its unique light.
- According to the perspectives, the represents diverse aspects and expressions.
- Based on the composition, the cubes are aligned orderly, which brings visual tensions and silence. It reminds a view of a night cityscape from a disembarking airplane window. It can be a surface of ground and mountains as it moved and collided. Constellations in the night sky or some auroras…
- I resemble the releases of the silvery lights from the works as the futuristic lights from the universe. Silvery glows from astronaut suits and satellites.
- As sides of the cubes are bulged out, the spaces in between the cubes form lines and construct the entire artwork.
- By attaching different sized cubes and pieces of aluminum sheets to give an infinite aspect, I assumed a spiritual state that transcends infinity.
A net of the Heavenly providence is too consecrated to see with our physical eyes, but we cannot avoid or escape from the net (an excerpt from the Classical reading).
- I reflected on the multiple points, levels, and sides of perception.
- Every object has its variations in sides, stories, and contexts that people do not recognize.
- Each part aligns in vertical lines and gathers as an entirety. Dimensionality of the works changes unevenly in all aspects.
- Lines are formed innately as cubes are attached together or separately.
– As past, present, and future flows, space is being formed in vertical and horizontal lines. Ones become an entirety, and an entirety is also a one. It is presumably saying that everything is intertwined and connected to each other.
– Repetitive works are done with diverse types of minds, some are attentive, anxious, and unfocused, to create a result. This approaches as difficulties at first, but it is like a religious act lets me endure and reach to the calm and delighted flow.
– The process of art making started with inexplicit motives. Many explorative trials and manipulations are done and reaching to its complete. Meanings from this process cannot be explained in simple themes, but they contain complex connotations. It is inconceivable for viewers to grasp the artist’s intentions, and it is unnecessary for them to know them. Viewers may encounter the artworks as an implement for them to have new experiences. There may be other viewers who already know the artist’s intentions and meet the works, but they eventually view themselves through the works of art. Viewers perceive according to their own perspectives.
– We tend to determine values into important and necessary parts (cores) and unnecessary parts (scraps). We eventually treat unnecessary parts and scraps remained rubbish and ignore them. However, when we observe rubbish differently, we may discover and feel something new, and steer away from our stereotypical perceptions.
This attitude allows one to look around, observe indifferently, and examine in silence. In order to enter into a new world, one needs to experience and be familiar with strange and peculiar things in the world to transcend the unequal boundaries.
– People gain freedom when they start to see each part as a unique. When people begin to realize a combination of parts that are textured, damaged, and reflecting different lights as their characterized parts, then they will see natures.
As Baruch Spinoza, a philosopher, has said, nature is god.
Realistically, experiences can be portrayed as encountering people, happenings, and works with our physical and mindful beings.
Descartes has said, “I think, therefore I am.” However, in this contemporary age, people and the age swift to “I exist, therefore I think.”
